BIOGRAPHY & AWARDS

Hector M. Salcedo is the Music Director of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg, Indiana. He began his musical studies at the age of eight and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Gregorian Chant from the Sacred Music School in Guadalajara in 1998. He later continued his advanced studies in Rome at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music under the guidance of Monsignor Valentin Miserachs.

In Rome, Mr. Salcedo served as Music Director at the Oratorio di San Francesco Saverio al Caravita, organist at St. Pius V and San Marco al Campidoglio, assistant organist at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and member of the Cappella Giulia and Coro del Vicariato choirs of St. Peter’s. He was also appointed Organist for State Funerals in Italy.

Winner of the 2008 Associazione Musicale Amici Della Musica Castellana Grotte International Composition Competition, his works continue to be performed internationally. Prior to arriving in the United States, he served as Music Director and organist at Guadalajara’s Metropolitan Cathedral and Prefect of Studies at the Academy of Sacred Music. In 2019, he was awarded third prize at the University of Michigan’s Organ Improvisation Competition.
